The Sennheiser BTA 1 is a standalone Bluetooth Auracast™ transmitter that adds next-generation wireless audio broadcast capability to any TV, projector, or audio source. Unlike traditional Bluetooth transmitters that pair with one device at a time, Auracast broadcasts audio to an unlimited number of compatible receivers simultaneously. This makes the BTA 1 ideal for multi-listener households, waiting rooms, and anyone preparing for the coming wave of Auracast-enabled hearing aids.

With optical (TOSLINK), HDMI ARC, and 3.5mm analog inputs, the BTA 1 connects to virtually any audio source. It streams using the high-efficiency LC3 codec with low-latency transmission, keeping audio perfectly synchronized with video. The extended 50-meter wireless range provides flexibility for larger rooms and open floor plans.

If you already own Auracast-compatible headphones or anticipate upgrading to Auracast hearing aids, the BTA 1 transmitter is all you need to broadcast TV audio throughout your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the BTA 1 and the RS 275?

The RS 275 is a complete system that includes both the Auracast transmitter and wireless headphones. The BTA 1 is the transmitter only, designed for users who already have Auracast-compatible headphones, want to use multiple headphone sets, or plan to connect future Auracast-enabled hearing aids. If you need headphones included, choose the RS 275. If you already have compatible receivers or want flexibility, choose the BTA 1.

How many devices can connect to the BTA 1 at once?

With Auracast broadcast technology, there is no practical limit. Unlike traditional Bluetooth that pairs one-to-one, Auracast broadcasts audio like a radio signal that any number of compatible devices can receive. Each listener controls their own volume independently.

Will the BTA 1 work with my current Bluetooth headphones?

The BTA 1 is designed for Auracast-compatible devices. Standard Bluetooth headphones that only support classic Bluetooth pairing will not receive the Auracast broadcast signal. Check your headphones' specifications for Auracast or LE Audio compatibility. As the Auracast ecosystem grows, more headphones and hearing aids will become compatible.

What audio inputs does the BTA 1 support?

The BTA 1 offers three connection options: optical (TOSLINK) for digital audio, HDMI ARC for TVs with Audio Return Channel, and 3.5mm analog for older equipment or projectors. Most users connect via optical for the best combination of audio quality and compatibility.

Is there audio delay when watching TV?

No. The BTA 1 uses low-latency transmission with the LC3 codec, which keeps audio precisely synchronized with video. You will not experience the lip-sync lag that occurs with many standard Bluetooth audio devices.
